I’m Madelaine.
I am a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Minnesota, living in Chicago.
My interests revolve around diet, life history, and environment, and what they can tell us about primate paleobiology. I research the ecology and development of living and extinct apes through methods like stable isotope and trace element analysis.
I am also an avid writer, science communicator, and illustrator.
Altogether, I prioritize creativity, communication, and outreach in my work, and I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate!
Communication & Outreach
As an academic, one of my biggest priorities is making time for scientific outreach and communications. I enjoy sharing what I've learned with others through art, writing, k-5 workshops, or social media.
Illustrations
I love to doodle and am always looking for ways to incorporate my illustrations into science communication projects. I also love creating marketing assets for local businesses and community organizations.
I sell art prints, stickers, and needle-felted trinkets on Etsy, at maker markets throughout the Chicago area, and in local gift shops.
